Thanks, Simon:
I wondered why I had 5 messages unread. Thought it was an error. No, I missed some old messages, up to 5 years old.
Too late to reply . . .

i thought i was back on the jw radar after my jw daughter had a local elder call on me back in 2011 - but apparently not.
he obviously didn't let his elders know i lived here, no record was kept for posterity and just called my daughter telling her that her " dad has differences with the organization " because he never called back on me as he promised to talk again.
as i'm just inactive for 10 years.. so these two older jw ladys come knocking yesterday - one lady about 57 and the other lady older about 71 yrs.old ( i asked how long they had been jw's and told me they both have been in 30 years.
Hey, Flipper:
Seems you've witnessed to quite a few of my friends!

curious, as the first choice has no extras (icons?

greetings, soup lovers:.
i have a huge kitchen at my disposal (not my own); vegetables, cans of this and that and spices are scattered about, prepared to go into a cauldron of minestrone i started a few days ago.
i'm preparing ahead so as to freeze the leftovers to heat up later at home over my hotplate.. nothing like a 6-burner gas range to simmer over!.
Seems we have two different reply boxes.
Can't wait to try the different recipes! Yes, cofty -- the meal can wait; often, the soup is enough.
Thanks again.

i post the above as a comment on various ideas that the gospels might be invented.
perhaps we will never know.. the 'angels at mons' incident happened only a century ago but still illustrates how an exciting story can become widely accepted as history.
Any further thoughts, Metatron?
I read the entire article and enjoyed it immensely!
Gratefully,

Thanks, friends, for posting! I had forgotten about this thread but not my daily soup!
Yes, Scully, I do have 2 crockpots; they are indispensible. As mentioned earlier, when I'm on a job with a full kitchen, I can make a huge kettle of soup on a gas range. Some kitchens have a faucet mounted over the stove so I don't have to fill the cauldron at the sink and then lug it across the room.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

that text reminds me of one of a handful of problems peculiar to the ex-jw community.
second only to the wild beast's internal divisions, is the divided makeup of the ex-jw populace.
you know the one thing that indicates jehovah's blessing upon the worldwide association of kingdom proclaimers, is not only the continued success of the preaching work, but along with it the unity and love amongst the brothers and sisters.
"Then there's the multiple movements within the hive. FreeMinds, Six Screens, Cedars' group the AARP, etc.. All with different agendas and motives."
AARP: American Association of Retired Persons
Cedars is not a retired American, if I remember correctly.

This reply box doesn't permit copy/paste, so I'll try to remember.
The contemporary legend satisfied religious and patriotic needs of the time.
It doesn't seem to matter that the resultant hope and joy the "miracle" brought the beleaguered people was likely based on rumor or disinformation . . . perhaps a touch of deceit?
